I am the SME for all data protection and privacy matters at Nest Corporation. I am responsible for ensuring that we adhere to all data protection legislation including GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR 2003. I also look after records management to ensure our compliance with data protection principles. I work closely with all business units to ensure processes/communications are GDPR/DPA 2018 and PECR compliant. I also deal with data protection clauses within legal contracts and assess data sharing agreements. I maintain our ROPA document and ensure our privacy policies and notices are up to date. I have set up KPIs/KRIs and related controls and metrics relating to data protection. I provide guidance and training to colleagues as required and I ensure that we respond to customer complaints/individuals' rights request promptly.

I was responsible for ensuring that Centrepoint would be GDPR compliant by 25 May 2018; which included ensuring that all steps set out by the ICO were complied with by the due date. This involved data mapping, producing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring we had consent/other lawful bases in place for all data processing and training colleagues on data protection. I also implemented a complete records retention schedule and a new email retention/destruction procedure.

The University Records Manager role included that of Data Protection Officer and Freedom of Information Officer. I handled all requests for information under the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2003 and I also dealt with all records management issues and carried out records audits.I also administered the University's Prevent duty and minuted quarterly meetings. I covered the role of the Board Executive Assistant and I prepared the papers, agendas and minutes for a wide variety of committees including Audit & Compliance, Finance & General Purposes and Capital Projects Steering Group.
