I am a Non-Profit Arts and Culture Professional with experience in the Entrepreneurial world.I am currently the Executive Director for Arts for All Nevada, an organization that provides arts education in the community. Immediately prior to this job, I was the Director of Retail and Reception Services at the Nevada Museum of Art, which combined my twenty years as a museum director/curator with my entrepreneurial experience as the co-owner of ClayNichols, an art gallery/ gift boutique. Being back in the world of non-profit management is a good place to be and this job has stretched my skill set. As a history curator for over twenty years, I realized that my skill set was as a community curator, with an intuitive ability to interpret community needs and meet them with institutional programming.When ClayNichols opened I discovered that many skills used in curatorial work, like processing large amounts of information and turning into a visual design and program that captured people's attention and imagination were applicable to retail. I also discovered that it was fun to work with scholar, artists and craftsmen from all walks of life. Being trusted by them to present their work to the public was a huge responsibility and an honor. I realized it was all story telling -- whether it is as a museum curator, the owner of an art gallery/gift store or managing a non-profit.
