I started in the PMO by managing small web based projects and the development portion of larger projects related to changes to the core DC software. I then moved on to managing more of the project lifecycle and in the last 2 years moved on to manage projects for different functional areas within the business. The first project being the implementation on a new time and attendance system (Kronos) within 4 of our distribution centers and the implementation of a new Payroll and HR systems (Sage 300) into Central office as well as 4 distributions centers. I also worked on part of the SAP modernization project and was responsible for the data migration and implementation of a new governed onboarding process for some of the Master Data.

As a development group leader I ensured that my team was given work to fit their skill level. I had to mediate conflict situations and conduct performance reviews. I also had to submit reports to management of the teams weekly progress against allocated project work. I began studying project management and obtained my CAPM accreditation.

As a Systems Analyst I was responsible for writing technical specification documents based in the Business requirements obtained from the Business Analyst. I also wrote test cases documents and ensured that the all change related documentation was kept up to date.

I took on more responsibility with the team and mentored a new junior. I was increasingly given less guidance and more analysis work to do. I worked within the retail team until July 2005 when I joined the mid ware team. This role was more focused on the communications between the store and DC which gave me further business knowledge and I learned a new development language called Plex (a 4GL which is very quick to code in aa it uses patterns)

I maintained the store back office system used for all SPAR retail stores within South Africa. The system name was SPAR system 3 and it was written in DP4. Some major projects I worked on was making new message formats which could be sent to the Distribution centre in encrypted format.
