As a Policy & Strategy Executive at MCST, our team provides advice to Government on research and innovation policy matters, both at National and at European level. We are also responsible for implementing the National Research and Innovation Strategy 2020, and ensure that the principles of the Strategy are coordinated in policymaking across Government. We also participate in numerous EU-level forums and provide support and advice throughout the process of the development of a national position on EU matters concerning research and innovation policy and throughout the whole negotiation process at EU level.My work over the past years has been focused on developing Malta's Smart Specialisation Strategy and designing and implementing an action plan for the National Research and Innovation Strategy 2020. I am also a delegate on a European forum, the European Research and Innovation Area Committee (ERAC), the main advisory group to Council pushing the ERA priorities and objectives, and I drafted Malta's National ERA Roadmap. I am currently a delegate on the Standing Working Group on Gender Equality in Research and Innovation, and currently appointed as rapporteur for the development of Joint Guidelines for Gender in International STI Cooperation. I am also part of a Horizon 2020 project called GENDERACTION working on raising awareness on gender issues in research and innovation. During the Maltese Presidency 2017, I was responsible for drafting and negotiating Council Conclusions on Streamlining the Research and Innovation Monitoring and Reporting Landscape, which were adopted in Council in May 2017. I was also coordinating and involved in several Presidency events held in Malta, including the Informal Competitiveness Council and Euro-Med Ministerial Conference.
