Jackie founded TherapyAid April 2019. We are a fledgling organisation with a mission! .We started giving treatments via our pilot study in May 2019 and from October 2019 got the funding from Norwich Charitable Trusts which enabled us to start treating and also paying the therapists in Norwich. We have been busy fund raising and now we have therapists in South Norfolk, Great Yarmouth, Broadland, Breckland, North Norfolk - still in a small way, but we are getting there! We are now TherapyAid CICTherapyAid's mission: to provide a network of therapists throughout Norfolk giving massage, reflexology and other beneficial therapies to unpaid/informal *carers.We will also demonstrate and teach carers how to do simple treatments on each other via free workshops just for unpaid carers - in Indian Head Massage, Massage and Reflexology.We will also train professional young carers, over the age of 18, who have spent their youth helping to look after a parent or sibling. This will be done through organisations who support young carers. Please contact jackie@therapyaid.co.uk if you are an organisation that has contact with young carers who you think would benefit from training to be a therapist.A *carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.There are around seven million carers in the UK – one in ten people. We have 100,000 informal carers in NorfolkA report from Carers UK reveals that the 6.8 million people who provide unpaid care in the UK save the state £132 billion a year – close to the cost of a second NHSCarers are our unsung heroes.
