About Jackie Marquart

I have a broad base of administrative supervisory skills, written and verbal communication abilities as well as accounting and leadership experience in a University Library setting.I've gained a particular ability to quickly assess a situation and grasp a "big picture" overview in order to logistically plan and implement necessary actions as required to get a job done in a timely and efficient manner.I have a great deal of experience in working with donors and friends in prior positions I've held and understand the importance of building relationships in order to created a vested interest in an institution. I understand the importance of Outreach and creating interest in not only faculty but also students, alumni, and the community.I also understand how incredibly fast the Library world is changing. It is such a quicksilver industry. As quickly as an institution tries to update to the newest gadget, that gadget has become obsolete. It's not even the same industry today, as it was when I began my MLIS degree three years ago (as a part-time student working full-time). It changes day to day - almost hour to hour in some cases. This is undoubtedly the greatest challenge to academic libraries today. I'm not certain what the answer to that is, but I do know being aware of it gives me a huge head start.
