CurrentDevelops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the assigned Section.Provides input and suggestions to the Sheriff and Captain on the implementation and/or enhancement of assigned programs based on current and long-range needs.Coordinates assigned Section activities with other Office Sections, County Departments, criminal justice agencies, and the community; represents the Office on boards, committees, and organizations; works directly with other agencies or departments in joint projects.Assists in budget preparation and administration; develops and approves requirements for equipment needs and coordinates purchase of all specialized equipment.Identifies, analyzes, and interprets problems; develops solutions and action plans.Assigns, directs, and supervises activities of assigned staff; administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, scheduling work hours, granting leave, appraising performance, disciplining, and submitting records and reports as required by Sheriff's Office and County policies and procedures.Evaluates training needs of assigned staff; researches/designs training programs; conducts in-service training; maintains related records and reports.Establishes and maintains internal and external lines of communication, assuring management is apprised of matters of significance.Reads, comprehends and processes legal and non-legal documents.Analyzes a variety of data concerning Office activities; prepares reports and statistics.Conducts criminal investigations; assists deputies in preparing reports for trial and may appear in court to present evidence and testimony; reviews and approves reports submitted by deputies. Confers with prosecutors and maintains contact with other law enforcement agencies.When a local declaration of emergency or disaster may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
