I am the owner of JMS Legal – a boutique U.S.-based IP practice created with a strong background working in several in-house legal departments for global consumer products goods and pharma companies.Since launching my company, I have continued to work with Fortune 500 companies as well as counseling start-ups, medium sized businesses and foreign law firms on US trademark matters, including trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.I pride myself on being business and brand focused and solution oriented, while providing pragmatic legal advice. My firm has a "no surprise" and largely flat fee billing structure and competitive billing practice.I am also a co-founder and the current Co-Chair and Secretary of Brand Action (www.brandaction.org), a non-profit organization whose mission it is to bring the international trademark community together to support people in times of crisis. Since its inception in 2022, our 100% volunteer-run organization has raised over $300,000USD, providing more than 40,000 meals through World Central Kitchen to the people of Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, Mexico and Haiti, and more than $60,000 worth of life-saving medical supplies and two fully equipped ambulances for Ukraine.When not lawyering or engaging in philanthropic work, I am a proud mother of two wonderful kids, an avid runner, amateur photographer and frequent traveler.I earned my undergraduate degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and my law degree from The George Washington University School of Law.
