I coach leaders, teams and individuals so they develop their own innate resilience, motivation and well-being through conversations and questions that challenge comfort zones. I have discovered for myself how thinking can work for or against us and have seen, in clients, the powerful transformation this process can initiate. When I became a teacher I had the feeling this was what I was always meant to do. Moving from the primary sector to secondary, I could see how children lost their passion for learning as they grew up, so I designed and delivered a programme to develop emotional intelligent learning in KS3. This was so successful in improving results that I became one of the first Advanced Skills Teachers, leading innovative teaching and learning strategies nationwide. This led to the award of an OBE in 2002The course I delivered to students and teachers for a decade transformed my own thinking so I became more fearless and resilient. When I became headteacher of a large secondary school, I had a chance to introduce an innovative curriculum, developing emotional resilience, alongside subject expertise. I now also train or coach leaders and staff to develop emotionally intelligent leadership and a growth mindset culture which promotes personal resilience and well being. The impact is remarkable.I have written many books on teaching and learning and 'The Complete Learner's Toolkit' including lessons for children on how to be resilient learners is about to be published. My book on personal development is called 'GROW, change your mindset, change your life.'My greatest impact is working with leaders who need to influence the mindsets of their teams. Coaching really works because it is the only way to help people develop cognitive flexibility and re-frame their problems.
