Praxis is a nine-month program with an intensive professional bootcamp and an apprenticeship at a growing startup.In Praxis, I am building my personal brand, working on professional development projects, improving my writing and communication skills, and learning effective business mindsets and practices. I will use these skills and learn much more on the job once I start my apprenticeship with one of our business partners.

I design beautiful and effective websites, book covers, social media images, print materials, and more. I have worked with tech companies, media companies, tutoring businesses, retailers, authors, and podcasters. I have impressed my clients with my dedication to prompt communication and quick turnaround times- traits that can be difficult to find in a creative type.

As a homeroom teacher at VanDamme Academy, I was the main point of contact for parents and other teachers on all issues pertaining to the students in my class. I built rapport with parents and communicated professionally with them in-person, at parent-teacher conferences, and via email. I conducted research on a wide range of subjects and personally designed all of my curriculum using Adobe and Apple software. I managed large groups of students with a variety of skill levels and provided after-school tutoring for students who needed extra guidance. In addition to my core responsibilities, I eagerly sought out extra projects that would improve the school's function, aesthetic, or marketability. These projects include building the school's website, designing the school's marketing collateral and official forms, and redesigning and furnishing several classrooms.

As office administrator, I oversaw all logistics and communications relevant to the daily operations of the school. I acted as personal assistant to the administration and the teachers, accomplishing any and all tasks that needed to be done. I guided potential customers through the process of visiting the school and managed the enrolling of new students. I also oversaw tuition collection and tracking for the accountant.

As assistant manager at Pottery Barn Kids, I was responsible for the daily operations and strategic planning of a top performing store with more than $3M in yearly sales. I worked on the management team and held many responsibilities including customer service, training, operations, inventory, visuals, design, marketing, events, hiring, payroll, and budgeting. I forecasted and tracked daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals, payroll expectations, credit card goals, supply orders, and shipping and proper receiving of product.

I started working at Illuminations as my first job during the holiday season of 2005. In January, I was informed that since I was a late hire and had not been fully trained I would not be scheduled anymore. I was given the option to stay on a waiting list so that if enough people ahead of me quit, I would become an official employee. Since I loved the job so much, I agreed to stay on. In February, I received a call that enough people had quit, and I would be scheduled for a few hours a week. By June, I had been asked to take on the role of assistant store manager at the location in the neighboring town. I stayed there for three years and cherish all the learning opportunities the job afforded me at such a young age.The responsibilities of my position at Illuminations are nearly identical to my Pottery Barn role.

I worked at Panera Bread as a second summer job during high school in addition to my job at Illuminations.I was responsible for customer service, management of the cash registers, and the maintenance and care of the bakery as well as the cleaning and busing of tables and after-hours janitorial services.I often volunteered to work overtime 'til as late as 3 am to complete deep cleaning and organizational tasks that could not be completed during store hours.
