Wellbeing Waterloo Region was a community collaborative with a vision to improve the wellbeing of residents in Waterloo Region. I was part of the backbone team and was responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of communication, community engagement, and social marketing projects.

During this 8 month co-op position I was responsible for the marketing and outreach for the City of Hamilton's environmental services department. This included designing, printing and distributing promotional materials and writing updates to send to city residents regarding waste, recycling and composting. Additionally, I gave waste education presentations to grade 5 students about the importance of recycling and composting, and "what goes where". On top of these, I monitored city programs though phone calls, site visits, meetings, data entry and analysis, as well as performed best practice scans and made recommendations based on the findings. Finally, I assisted in waste diversion audits that included engaging with the public once a week on their waste sorting.

During this 4 month co-op position I learned about water research insights on drinking water, wastewater and stormwater, as well as the impact of climate change on water systems and nutrient management in watersheds. I was responsible for staying abreast of news about water issues in Canada and relaying them to the team and sharing on social media channels.I edited and created content for CWN's websites and social media, as well as creating graphic images using Adobe Creative Suite. I assisted with the production of plain language reports, including copyediting and proofreading and project managed the Student and Young Professional committee by coordinating webinars and promoting events. At the end of the 4 month co-op term I attended CWN's 2 day conference Blue Cities where I provided logistic assistance to the events manager and supported the panelists who were speaking in the breakout sessions by managing the AV and ensuring everything ran smoothly. During this event I was able to connect and network with a wide variety of water leaders from utility, government and non-profit, as well as learn about emerging water trends in smarter water management.

During this 4 month co-op position I was responsible for the marketing and recruitment of the Faculty of Environment and I assisted the Recruitment and Student Engagement Coordinator and the Marketing and Recruitment Specialist with the research, development, and implementation of recruitment initiatives. My daily tasks included posting creative content on the Faculty of Environment's social media channels and giving hour long tours of the faculty to prospective students. The long-term projects have included but are not limited to: writing student profiles to be posted on social media and the university's website, working in Adobe's Creative Suite to create posters and promotional material for social media and print, and assisting with the planning and running of campus events.
