We founded Learning List to help improve student performance by empowering educators to become better informed consumers (purchasers and users) of instructional materials.Learning List is subscription-based instructional materials review service for schools and districts. Our independent, professional reviews of PreK-12 reviews help educators choose and use instructional materials most effectively. Subscribers get access to all published reviews and can request additional reviews as part of their subscription. We provide three reviews of each material: (1) Technology compatibility review, (2) Analysis of the material's instructional content and design, and (3) Standard-by-standard alignment review.Learning List reviews material for alignment to unique state, Common Core, NGSS and Advanced Placement standards. I served in the dual role of Associate Executive Director and Director of Governmental Relations for the Texas Association of School Boards. As an Associate Executive Director of the Association, I served on the management team of a statewide non-profit organization that provided advocacy, legal, governance, risk management and fianncial services to all Texas districts. In that capacity, I also initiated the expansion of the Association's national purchasing cooperative to include PreK-12 instructional materials.As the Director of Governmental Relations, I served as lead advocate for Texas school boards. I directed a team of internal and external lobbyists, guided the development of the Association's advocacy agenda through a state-wide grass roots campaign, drafted legislation and developed strategic campaigns to garner legislative support for the Association’s priorities. I organized statewide conferences annually and led a group of school board members to Washington, DC to advocate the interests of Texas school districts to Congress.

Raised $40 million in foundation funding to support S&P's School Evaluation Services division, which provided a ROR analysis of each state education system and local school district in the country. Managed S&P’s strategic partnerships with The Eli & Edythe Broad Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and numerous professional associations, including the National Governors Association, Council of Chief State School Officers, Education Commission of the States, National Conference of State Legislators, American Legislative Exchange Council, National School Boards Association, and the American Association of School Administrators.

White House Office Of Intergovernmental Relations

Selected as one of 16 White House Fellows (one of four women) from an international applicant pool and served in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Relations. The White House Fellows program is a non-partisan fellowship program for mid-career professionals. Between 11-19 Fellows are selected annually for this year-long leadership training program. Organized White House briefings for state and local elected officials, wrote and edited speeches for the White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, wrote the Director's weekly briefing memo to the President, and raised $22 million in strategic partnerships to support the White House Strategy Session on Improving Hispanic Student Achievement. Served as Interim Director of the White House Fellows Program during the transition between the Clinton and Bush Administrations. Managed the education program for the 2000-01 class of Fellows and oversaw the application and regional interview processes for the selection of the class of 2001-02.
