I managed the Kmart competitive monitoring and pricing area. This has involved; the supervision of nine remote staff; developing proposal for future pricing strategy; implementing new procedures; updating & creation of documentation; software training; software modifications specification; definition & negotiation of teams new job responsibilities and conditions. As well as the competitive pricing area, I had the management responsibility of the Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning Team. This involved the review and updating of the Kmart DRP/BCP Plans and procedures.

Telecommuting

This role was partly telecommuting from Melbourne to Tokyo and partly onsite in Tokyo for Mizuho Bank. It involved troubleshooting problems, the design and development of new interfaces for ACBS. Also included testing other team member’s work and assisting with user acceptance testing onsite.

This role gave me the opportunity to work in a web environment and become familiar with LANSA for the web and LANSA Web Events Development. I was involved in the complete lifecycle of the project, beginning as lead designer, to create business specifications, the creation of a prototype to prove the concept to the users, the development and finally the system testing. It was an exciting project as the team grappled with the new technology in a new environment.

This was an exhilarating position. I worked at some of the most prestigious banks in New York, Paris and London, as well as the software development headquarters in California. It was invigorating to be involved in so many projects and with so many inspiring professionals. I was given leeway to be involved in a wide range of activities, from training the development and Quality Assurance (QA) staff in specialist systems, to onsite development and coaching, and peer testing.My main functional expertise was the GL interface. As nearly every component of ACBS feeds into the GL, I have gained extensive knowledge and exposure to most ACBS modules and now have a wide business understanding of commercial loans from many different banks.The GL interface in itself is quite simple; however the user acceptance testing is always quite complex as it relies on the rest of ACBS running as required. I have been an integral part of the GL user acceptance testing for Banco Santander in New York, Barclays in both New York and London, IBJ in New York and Tokyo, Halifax in London.

In New York I was part of a small regional office, which supported the clients in the North West of the USA. The position involved Sales support, which included both demonstrations and hands on work with the potential client. After a sale I would continue to be involved with the clients. In between formal training sessions, I would visit the sites and provide ongoing phone assistance.
