As Carleton College's inaugural internal communications manager, I launched a weekly e-newsletter to help improve the timeliness and transparency of college communications to all faculty, staff, and students. The newsletter design and channel provided the new president, and her senior campus leaders, with a vehicle to share important news and updates with the campus community in a proactive, accessible, and easily digestible fashion. In this newly created role, I also established monthly e-newsletter analytics reporting; wrote, edited, and counseled senior leadership on communications strategies, key messages, campus event remarks, news announcements, and quarterly updates to supporters; and built relationships across campus to help advise department leaders on strategies to address a wide range of communications challenges, including multi-year construction and change management projects, college-wide strategic planning, DEI plan accountability reporting, event promotion and office/program-based e-newsletters, etc.

Led the transformation and growth of a small communications department into a robust integrated content marketing and communications team relied upon for delivering smart, strategic recommendations and content to support critical fundraising, student recruitment, crisis communications, brand awareness, and reputation management. Responsibilities and achievements included:- Served as a trusted advisor to the Head of School as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. - Oversaw internal and external communications to all organizational constituents.- Led issues management communications and COVID-19 crisis response communications. - Developed marketing strategies to increase awareness of the school's unique Center of Excellence programs to increase both the number and quality of enrollment inquiries.- Managed the development of organization-wide brand standards and implementation strategy across all communications materials and channels, including award-winning school magazine, Board of Trustee and donor reports, weekly newsletter, social media, videography, website, etc.- Wrote and edited various materials, including school news, social media posts, magazine articles, fundraising appeals, admissions materials, alumni/student/employee/prospective student communications, weekly internal e-newsletter, event programs, etc.- Sourced and leveraged measurement tools to track, benchmark, and evaluate the success of marketing efforts. - Served as main point of contact for media inquiries and proactive media relations.

Helped establish Inprela's healthcare practice as an early employee of the specialty PR agency. Served as the public relations account lead for B2B healthcare companies focused on enhancing care delivery within infection prevention, medical device, wound care, and professional services. Specialized in providing unique content marketing opportunities that strategically integrated paid, owned, and earned media results to elevate client brand awareness to support sales engagement and revenue growth.

Managed national media relations campaigns, public affairs efforts, product launches, social media implementation and reputation management activities for the American College of Surgeons, Children's Hospitals & Clinics of Minnesota, Ecolab Healthcare, Boston Scientific, and the Army Medical Department.

Secured earned media coverage within a pay-per-placement PR model. Media outreach resulted in positive publicity for clients in the health and natural products industry, including Cargill and Taiyo.

Helped direct communications for national and international Olympic events including the World Cup Short Track Speedskating Championships and the 2006 USA Short Track Speedskating Olympic Trials. Developed and placed content to promote United States Olympic Education Center (USOEC) athletic teams, competition results, and funding needs. In 2020, the Center was renamed to National Training Site to recognize the partnership with USA Wrestling and USA Weightlifting.
