I provide leadership and strategy for Donate Life Northwest, Oregon and SW Washington's non-profit promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation. Through our award winning education programs, community outreach, and advocacy, we help save and enhance lives. We also run the Oregon Donor Registry, one of the highest performing registries in the nation. We are currently pivoting to focus on the complex issues of inequity in donation and transplantation. Together we can help make a difference in addressing these issues through advocacy and action.

I provided leadership, strategy, and vision for Saturday Academy, a STEM education nonprofit that provides engaging instruction by experts in the field. Throughout the pandemic, I worked with our community of staff, mentors, instructors, and volunteers to provided over 65,000 hours of programming through classes, camps, and internships. 72 internships pivoted to an online experience but still gave interns the opportunity to develop real life science skills in industries like AI, machine learning, neruoscience and advanced manufacturing. I led innovative projects within our programming and operations, and developed a new comprehensive mission | vision | values for the organization.

I worked closely with students, faculty, and staff to collaboratively move forward a vision for excellence in graduate education with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. From integration of data science skills and open science principles into the core curriculum to supporting students during their tenure at OHSU and as new professionals, I provided leadership, strategy, guidance, and skills that improved equity and excellence in the education landscape.

The professional landscape for PhD scientists is changing, and it is essential that all students receive the support necessary to thrive as new professionals. I created and ran the Career and Professional Development Center, offering services in professional skill development, career exploration, career counseling, internships / fellowships, and individual development plan development/execution. Created NSF GRFP boot camp, increasing success 300% in year one; developed internships with industry and academic partners.

My work focused on supporting the research data management and information needs of basic science researchers with an emphasis on open data and open science. Additionally, I developed curricula on data science, data visualization, research communication, and research ethics. I worked with the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to create data science training for URM/underserved interns every summer, in addition to providing workshops for URM graduate students at local Universities.
