About Jack (Resinjack) Josephsen

Jack Josephsen became known as “Resin Jack” while sitting on the committee to create a new Flooring Technology qualification in Australia.Driving this qualification through to government endorsement was not only critical to the Australian industry but it provides a foundation for the global industry on the journey to "make resin flooring mainstream".Having a formal qualification for our industry means that resin installers are proudly able to have a recognised trade. However the qualification is only the start and now the industry needs to work together to continually improve its practices, set standards and establish an industry voice. To achieve this requires a contribution from all stakeholders including installers, manufacturers, specifiers and industry trainers.Having spent the past 6 years to establish the foundation, Resin Jack continues to support the various stakeholders that wish to advance themselves personally, their company or their profession within the industry.Having a background in product formulation and manufacturing means that ResinJack can provide detailed, technical product support. Having overseen flooring installation onboard navy ship projects for over 15 years, as well as residential, retail and commercial projects ensures that project support is comprehensive. Finally with a proven passion for the industry, ResinJack will continue to provide industry support whether that is for Resin Flooring International, national industry associations or training organisations that want to deliver resin flooring training and assessment. The way in which ResinJack provides support varies depending on the situation but the emotional outcome he focusses on is always to provide clarity, direction and confidence.Sometimes Jack is required to be a teacher, sharing knowledge and experience. There is no shame in asking questions for we all started with zero knowledge so Jack's natural patient and understanding approach ensures no way feels judged. Most of the time, Jack is providing a form of coaching as most people have some experience and understanding and they are just wanting support to advance to the next level. Finally there are some that have built a relationship with Jack and wish to continue more as a mentoring role that enables them to sound board ideas, seek independent advice that is not usually available in our industry or just be able to share in the daily challenges that we all face. If you feel you could benefit from product, project or industry support then get in touch today and let's get started.

Listed skills include Management, Business Planning, Contract Negotiation, Project Planning, and 5 others.

Product SupportNational Maintenance Products (NMP) was the first company I set up in 2001 to manufacture a range of solventless epoxy coatings, flooring and adhesives. With strong growth and only one bad debt in 15 years, we proved the NMP philosophy worked and set about re-structuring the business to share our capabilities. In 2015, we re-branded to reflect those changes and NMP became Real World Epoxies. With proven flooring systems, dedicated support and a “solutions first” approach, Real World Epoxies now sits as the first-choice supplier for applicators looking to succeed in a more professional resin flooring industry. We’re currently looking for like-minded companies that can benefit from our proven IP, excellent track record and strong network. If you’re interested, please contact me today.

Industry SupportThe resin flooring industry has been around for a while and experienced rapid growth in recent years, however still doesn’t have a recognised trade at national and international levels. Before the industry starts to develop splintered groups, associations and programs, there’s a tremendous opportunity to work together from the same fundamental starting point.I started Resin Flooring International in 2016 to be that starting point – an open, collaborative platform aimed at establishing standards, best practices and training for the resin flooring industry across the globe. As of May 2022, Resin Flooring international became the home of Floortick, ResinCard and Resin Star.

Project SupportResin flooring has traditionally suffered from a lack of quality training. There are some one-day courses, technical data sheets and method statements floating around, but contractors sorely need better options.Epoxy School was set up in 2010 to provide an information hub where all kinds of contractors could learn more about their craft. What started as a free resource, has now evolved into a leader in online training and assessment. Moving forward, Epoxy School will offer online courses to help contractors prepare for recognition of prior learning (RPL) and the Cert III trade qualification. In 2014, I published my first book, a 210-page epoxy contractor handbook titled: “Finally, real answers for real contractors – Industrial Flooring”, which is available through NACE and Amazon. Project SupportFloortick is a powerful data capture tool developed and optimised over 15 years through the success of our “supply and apply” brands, FLOORChef and Defence Floors. The software records every detail on resin flooring projects, from client contact through to end of warranty. Not only does the step-by-step, proven process ensure the job is done right, but the program also doubles as an invaluable project record for quality assurance, dispute resolution, team management and training purposes.

Product and Project SupportNMP was pushed into the decorative flooring field back in 2006 when our solventless epoxies attracted interest from the green building movement. While the decorative epoxy products grew rapidly, something was missing. Eventually it became clear that to compete with the traditional floor coverings, a new level of thinking was required. After two years of continuous development, a truly international “supply and apply” flooring model in the form of Floorchef was established. With Floorchef, customers can deal with a company that educates its clients, manufactures quality decorative products and professionally installs them at the same time. By offering a closed-loop process and removing the gaps, scores of 10/10 are possible on every project. The Floorchef brand has been licensed in Australia. If you’d like to know more about licensing internationally, please contact me today.

Industry SupportShut off from the rest of the world, the Australian resin flooring industry has been forced to pay too much or miss out entirely on everything – from raw materials for our manufacturers, through to essential equipment for our applicators.A few years ago, I realised this had to change. If resin flooring was to reach its full potential and become a genuine mainstream choice for consumers, its members had to work together for better equipment, better resources and better prices. In 2016 I started this movement with Epoxy Club, however, strong membership growth, demand for extra features, and the approval of a Cert III trade qualification by the Australian Federal Government meant a much bigger, more diverse club was needed. In 2018, Epoxy Club was expanded to become Resin Flooring Club – a club open to all Australian applicators wanting to make their resin flooring business more equipped, more informed and more enjoyable.

Project Engineer

Common Logic Pty Ltd

I originally completed my University Degree paid work experience with Common Logic during my final year of my honours degree. Upon completing my degree I was employed by Common Logic as an initiative to step up the company's in-house capabilities to include electrical engineering and design. My role was initially engineering design, drafting and installation commissioning which grew pretty quickly to include full project and contracts administration. I was responsible for a diverse range of projects nationally (Brisbane River City Cats, water and wastewater control stations) and internationally (Vietnamese custom patrol boats, Spanish tyre recycling equipment).Working in a small business provided me with excellent experience in all aspects of operating a business. I was granted leave from this role whilst on the Cadetship for the Queensland Government. Upon my return I continued to consult for the company until I eventually had to focus on my own company (Tech Adhesives Pty Ltd).

My project was to research and assist Queensland designed and built tyre recycling equipment enter the US market.
