Working as a general R&D materials chemist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, I have a wide experience of experimentation. I work with a variety of teams to develop and execute experiments for material characterization and project optimization. Have worked extensively in characterization of material degradation using various thermal analysis and spectroscopic methods such as FTIR, Raman, DSC, TGA, TMA, and DMA, as well as multiple additive manufacturing techniques. I have worked in material aging studies and also act as an administrator and LANL representative of an online database shared across the DOE complex.Completed Master's degree in chemistry with an emphasis in polymer science at the University of Oregon in the Master's Industrial Internship Program. Specialization in material characterization and analysis. Also have experience in biochemical research regarding cancer drug activity and have gotten the opportunity to become familiar with many different spectroscopic analysis techniques.

Post Master'S Research AssociateLos Alamos National Laboratory Sep 2019 - May 2021Los Alamos, New MexicoEngineered Materials Group (MST-7) on Materials Performance & Characterization Team•Mixed powders and performed thermal characterizations (DSC and TGA) on thermosets for 3D printing in both the Formiga P110 and Sintratec Kit printers. •MIR and NIR characterization of thermosets. Developing NIR testing procedures to characterize powders for intent of purchasing an in-situ FTIR probe to characterize mid print. Leading an effort to maximize utilization of spectroscopy for thermoset work by improving the dynamics for conventional spectroscopic processes and to maximize spectroscopy capabilities for MST-7.• Selective Laser Scintering (SLS) printing. Using commercial feedstock and filled powders to optimize currently used printing parameters. •Thermal and spectroscopic characterization of different foam formulations (DSC and FTIR). •Thermal characterization of aged Estane samples (DSC and TGA).•Spectroscopic analysis of aged Estane samples using FTIR.•Plotted resulting FTIR data for presentation at 2020 ACS Fall Meeting.•Performed 2D-COS to analyze the degradation of previously measured FTIR on polymer binder components (nitroplasticizer , poly(ester urethane), monomers, and other urethane inclusive block copolymers).•FTIR and Raman characterization, as well as 2D-COS analysis of hydrogen uptake in aged materials.•Raman spectroscopy of carbon coated glass and titanium samples using both the ThermoFisher DXR Raman Spectrometer and Bruker Bravo Handheld Spectrometer.•Irradiated carbon nanotube samples using X-rays and investigated possible degradation via Raman spectroscopy. -
Graduate Research InternLos Alamos National Laboratory Jan 2019 - Sep 2019Los Alamos, New Mexico•Investigated the degradation of poly(methyl methacrylate) film via x-ray radiation using Two Dimensional Correlation Spectroscopy (2D-COS) and FTIR characterization. A degradation mechanism of chain scission via ester breaking was proposed. •Presented work via poster at the 2019 Student Symposium at LANL in August 2019.•Took over as the LANL representative for the Additive Manufacturing database, which involves extensive work and collaboration with LANL and other sites to optimize the database. Created new tables based on the needs of customers from LANL and other sites to capture new information about material printing and testing. Made over 120 new attributes to support the surfaces and high explosives ACT projects. Developed methods for projects to change the way build iterations are tracked by capturing information of failed builds, build optimizations, and intentionally varied parameters throughout a set of builds.
