Interning for a start-up/consulting firm, I gained first-hand exposure how business gets things done in a wide range of Chinese industries, including energy, finance, consulting, import/export, tourism, and hospitality. My primary responsibility was to perform feasibility and market research for international investment projects associated with China’s One Belt One Road initiative. I aslso was responsible for preparing an expert network platform with over 100K screened experts for market launch.

Helping the nascent Chinese Taipei Lacrosse Association (TWLA) achieve their dream of building a national network of university-level teams, I served as an advisor and coach. My responsibilities included traveling with TWLA’s founders to train the island’s original team in Taidong, coaching TWLA’s newest team in Taipei, scheduling exhibition matches, as well as planning, scheduling, and conducting practices. I conversed with players in Mandarin, organized an equipment drive through my college team, worked with a U.S. vendor to obtain additional equipment at a discount, and developed experienced players to take on coaching responsibilities when I returned to the states. During my time with TWLA, it was accepted into the Federation of International Lacrosse and soon after earned its first international victory in the Hong Kong Open.

Hired by the Williams College Sports Information Department to create highlight videos of sporting events for the athletic department website, I interviewed coaches and players and filmed, edited, and uploaded videos of tennis and golf matches.

Working in this customer-facing role for a financial institution with over $1 billion in assets, I processed financial transactions, resolved customer issues independently and in coordination with other departments, and encouraged member use of additional bank services. To fulfil these responsibilities, I trained in navigating financial systems, fraud prevention, customer service, professional etiquette, and cash handling. After transferring away from the main office to a smaller branch office, I assumed higher-level functions including preparing and verifying cash orders from the Federal Reserve, organizing work schedules, and balancing accounts for the branch vault and ATMs. I enjoyed the fast-paced environment during workflow rushes and coordinating with my team and other departments to accommodate customers during busy periods.

As the top youth leader, I led a youth staff of 24 scouts in developing and delivering a ten-day training program designed to teach leadership and teamwork skills to 50 Boy Scouts. My responsibilities included selecting and developing the staff, organizing and leading planning meetings, establishing a vision for our course, and coordinating between youth and adult staff members as well as parents. I was also responsible for providing instruction through presentations on leadership skills such as team development, setting goals, and conflict resolution. I also elected to take on an overhaul of the course syllabus in order to realign our teaching methods with the goals of our course, which resolved previous inefficiencies and led to the implementation of a new feedback process.
