I have recently finished my first year attending Newcastle University studying Journalism, Media and Culture. Activities involving the creative side of my brain have always appealed to me, writing stories and newspaper articles, is something which I always enjoyed growing up and has become a hobby of mine. Throughout my school life, I actively tried to take part in every form of creative arts I could, whether this was through being heavily involved with the music and drama departments or writing. Shadowing a social media journalist at the BBC gave me the opportunity to take part in both interviewing people and editing footage, I thoroughly enjoyed this and this is what confirmed to me that Media is the industry I want to work in. My other interests include drama, in which I have taken part in various productions both in and outside of school from a young age, and attended and successfully passed LAMDA examinations. Being part in musical productions inspired me to begin playing piano, a hobby which has become part of my everyday life. I now play pieces at a Grade 7 standard and am hoping to complete my ABRSM exam in time to come. I also have a part time job working as a waiter in a local Italian Restaurant. I really enjoy my part time job and feel that it has taught me many skills. Working has helped me to develop my communication skills, through having to constantly communicate even if it's to strangers and has taught me the importance of teamwork, through having to work with a range of people in order to succeed. I have also become an active member of my local gym, with an aim to become stronger both physically and mentally, through the resilance exercise requires. Joining my local gym has inspired me to take part in other sports when I start my undergraduate degree in September. I am always looking to connect with employers, professionals and peers.
