Jack Leslie is a strategic communications executive, political consultant and international development activist. As former Chairman of Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading global communications and engagment firms, Jack brings a long track record of helping clients integrate global political, economic, cultural and communication trends to create innovative, forward-looking strategy and plans. Jack is also one of the pioneers of political consulting and stakeholder engagement, having served as political director for Senator Edward Kennedy before becoming President of Sawyer Miller Group, a prominent consulting firm, in the mid-1980s. He has provided strategic counsel to many of the most highly visible campaigns across three continents over the past 30 years.In recognition of his philanthropic work in Africa, President George W. Bush appointed Jack to the Board of the US African Development Foundation in 2003 and in 2009, President Obama appointed him Chairman. Jack is also former Chairman of the USAID Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. In 2023, Jack was appointed Senior Visiting Fellow of the Duke Global Health Institute and Visiting Fellow of Duke’s Margolis Center for Public Health. He is a Distinguished Professor at Georgetown University. He is also a general partner of C1 Ventures, a venture capital group that invests in early-stage companies that apply proven technologies to decarbonize large-scale industries. Jack is Chairman of the Board of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, on the Board of Directors of Water.org, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, the NIH Clinical Center Hospital among other appointments and honors.
