I've always liked to do a bit of everything and I generally like to fill my time. Please allow me to elaborate a little. While studying for my MMath in Mathematics at the University of Leicester this looked something like: Volunteering my time to support the creation of New Student Groups and allocating funding.Working weekends at my local dive centre as an air bar attendant.Trying out some new sports, taking leadership roles as well as creating my own Student Group. A lot of time went into these ones.Trying to develop my French alongside my degree. I have to admit, I have been learning French on and off for the past 15 years. Doing a brief 7 months study abroad in Long Beach, California before the pandemic hit.Before Higher education that would have been volunteering at a local theatre, being a Young Leader in Explorer Scouts. I'm sure I could find my Chief Scout's Platinum award somewhere. I also taught French kids English and Theatre so I was technically a professional actor for a week.Recently I finished working as the Activities Officer at Leicester Students' Union. An elected full-time paid role that means I was a Director and Trustee of a charity and ex officio member of the Attenborough Arts Advisory Board. I represented the student voice on a plethora of areas because my remit is so varied, so I had the opportunity to balance so many different projects, working groups and general competing priorities. The role suited my work style quite well and I loved everything I got to be involved with. This included:Coordinating the Student Unions' Freshers' week, including Fairs and Events (with the support of our amazing staff team!).Consulting and supporting the student involvement within the Botanic Gardens in Oadby and Attenborough Arts Centre at the University. Creating a Local Environmental Action Plan for the Students' Union.Developing the support and growth of student groups and their committees.Representing the student voice at all levels, including the Employability, Volunteering and Environmental Sustainability Strategies of the University.Sitting on our Trustee Board and all of it's sub-committees, including HR & Renumeration, Risk Management and Finance & Audit.I was re-elected for my second and final term for my role in March 2023, which ended in June 2024 and am currently looking for jobs (and a potential part-time PhD in Maths Education). I am keeping my options open however as I enjoy most opportunities that are out there and wish I could do everything.
