Main Duties & Responsibilities:• Administration of the entire SQL Server database environment across Development, Test, Production and the Reporting Data-Warehouse. This comprises of more than 30 SQL Server 2008/2012 Development, Standard and Enterprise Edition Windows 2008/2012 Servers. • Provide advice and guidance for best practice design (partitioning, indexes, optimizations) across the Data-warehouse (approx 1TB) and OLTP environment• T-SQL Query Tuning and Performance troubleshooting of in-house developed applications• Design and administration of the HA/DR strategy across multiple remote sites (comprising of Log Shipping, Transaction Replication and AlwaysOn)• Performing Non-Production environment refreshes with cleansed production data on a periodic basis to allow application testing of new functionality. This is utilising both SQL Server Native Backups and Commvault Backup/Restore• Proactively monitor physical server capacity (storage, memory, CPU) to ensure sufficient resources are allocated to accommodate BAU and peak periods. This is across both the Development, Production OLTP and Data-Warehouse environments• Performing new Server Installations and SQL Server Database Upgrades (2008R2->2012)• Maintain data standards, including adherence to relevant legislation and internal audit requirements.• Liaise with external vendors of database technology products, compliance organisations and software vendors that are required to support the DBA function.• Liaise with internal audit team, project managers, reporting staff, infrastructure staff and other consumers of data for the purpose or providing information (via SSRS/Adhoc T-SQL Queries) or configuration of services required for performing BAU tasks.• Development and Management of various in-house processes using SQL Server Integration Services• Proactively recommend new software technologies that could benefit the organisation• Be the database liaison on various development projects
