In 2003 I swapped my career as a Project Manager in the British Civil Service in Manchester for the north of Tenerife.A chance meeting and a case of mistaken identity shortly after arriving on the Canary Island of Tenerife was the catalyst for the launch of a new career as a travel writer. Along with my wife Andrea, I started writing about the 'real Tenerife', the one that existed beyond the resorts. Over 14 years of chronicling experiences which provided an insight into a world rarely touched upon in travel writing we gained reputations as specialists for the Canary Islands. Between us we have written articles for, and supplied photographs to, numerous travel and airline magazines, newspapers, websites, and contributed our expertise to a number of guidebooks.Over the last decade we broadened our scope to include the European mainland, acting as Slow Travel consultants, helping create specialist holidays. This work includes writing travel guides for off the beaten track destinations in the likes of Italy, France, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Germany, Austria, and Portugal.
