I envision a world that is ecologically sound and socially just and am working to get us there. Thriving life for all, within planetary boundaries. I am guided by intersectional feminism, nonoppression, decolonization, and deep ecology in my work and practice.I am an Environmental Planner and have earned a Bachelor of Natural Resources (Sustainable Coastal Management), Bachelor of Elective Studies (Liberal Studies, Minor in Geography), and Associate of Arts (Liberal Arts and Sciences). Now I am continuing my education in the Master’s Programme in Atmospheric Sciences and the Master's Programme in European and Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki.I completed courses and internships with nine institutions in six countries during my undergraduate studies alone. Everything from urban development to coastal ecology, philosophy to human relations, economics to world politics, and economic geography to conservation biology. A summer of ecology field work in the forests and mountains of Norway. Pacific oyster research on the West Coast of Sweden. One of my biggest motivations is and always has been learning. I love combining my existing knowledge, discovering more, and coming up with new ideas. I share information and my knowledge with others and affect positive change with joy. I see the big picture, dive into and understand the details, and communicate and teach this to others. The scientific method is very important to me. I bravely question myself and others. I am an excellent problem solver, critical thinker, and innovator. I synergize and utilize my myriad and international education, work, and volunteer experiences as sources of inspiration. Arranging and planning of CoastGIS 2021. This included correspondence with stakeholders, website upkeep, other marketing, social media communications, email newsletter communications, etc.The theme of CoastGIS 2021 was "Sustainable Coastal Planning in a Changing World". The work gave me an opportunity to learn a lot more about applications of GIS in coastal planning and research, as well as about the various actors in the field. The position was a natural fit, considering my bachelor's thesis work that included use of GIS to explore a coastal issue (climate change, sea level rise, coastal flooding, and future threats to cultural heritage).
