In my 25 years in the NBA as a seven-time All-Star player and as a coach with a deep knowledge of “big man” playing styles, I’ve excelled at basketball. Meanwhile, my continuing support for numerous community organizations, particularly those helping youth to develop into productive adults, has allowed me to lead off the court as well. Right out of college I was fortunate to play 14 years in the NBA, including being a member of the 1979 Seattle SuperSonics World Champions. I passionately embraced the competition of the NBA and enjoyed my connection with our fans. After retiring as a player I spent the next 12 years involved in real estate while having the chance to spend time at home helping to raise our family in the Seattle area. In 2003, presented with an opportunity to again be involved in the NBA, I became an assistant coach and enjoyed the next 11 years on an NBA bench. I continue to stay connected with the coaching of basketball and specifically helping in the development of centers and forwards. Off the court I have been involved with many organizations, particularly those focused on providing growth opportunities for youth, such as area Boys & Girls Clubs, youth basketball leagues and involvement in various international basketball camps.
