Tesla designs, manufactures, and sells electric vehicles as well as energy storage systems, and is a multi-billion dollar importer and exporter with offices on 5 continents.• I was the main point of contact for export compliance for the largest exporter in the state of California.- I made commodity jurisdiction determinations with regards to production material, test equipment, and special development projects, including autonomous driving, semiconductor fabrication, and advanced manufacturing technologies.- I administered Tesla’s ACE account as the Trade Account Owner and on-boarded and trained new users in filing EEI in AESDirect. I also developed a web-based program in ACE for import and export compliance audits.• In response to Section 232 and Section 301 trade remedies, I founded “tiger team” task forces with the global supply chain organization to develop innovative strategies to reduce component landed cost.- Acting as the subject matter expert on tariff classification, I researched and developed potential tariff and origin engineering arrangements for suppliers.• From August 2015 to March 2017, I provided clearance support for inbound ocean, air, and courier shipments.- I worked with Tesla’s 2 largest volume customs brokers in resolving HTS classification, country of origin, valuation, and OGA/PGA concerns for a multi-billion-dollar annual import lane.- I arranged front-line clearance support for urgent production, project cargo, and high-visibility prototype shipments for multiple business units, including coordinating clearance of air charters and hand-carry couriers.
