Was involved in a joint NASA / DOE project to investigate the system level influences of complex microbial mat communities on biohydrogen production. This project will use advanced molecular biology techniques such as high throughput sequencing and metatranscriptomics analysis coupled with CHIP-SIP and nanoSIMs scanning to holistically characterize these hydrogen producing photosynthetic communities of microbes. This project combines field experimental design and sampling, environmental chemistry, and database management and multivariate statistics of large sequencing datasets (~1TB). This project applies a variety of custom scripts in python, R, and perl for analysis and data management.
