The Community Ambassador role is designed to carry out effective outreach within communities, specifically targeting refuges, asylees, and new immigrant communities, encouraging compliance with health and safety recommendations in a culturally sensitive manner, sharing information and resources for reduction in the spread of Covid19, and to provide information regarding the support services available through World Relief and assist with connecting clients to those or other community resources. Community Ambassadors are able to connect with all individuals within their community and do not need to check for ORR eligibility.While general guidelines are suggested, this program provides flexibility for each local office to cater to the needs of their community.

Program coordination, activity management, planning, training and transportation of youth members.

•Provide intensive case management services in accordance with the cooperative agreement for up to 90 days. Make regular contact with clients through home and office visits and telephone calls until case closure. •Assess needs and capacities through intake interviews and regular contact, including medical and dental needs and communicate relevant information to healthcare specialist and other departments.•Work with colleagues, resettlement partners, volunteers and Churches in the local community to ensure that all core services are provided in a planned, effective, and timely manner to refugee clients. Inform them of procedures and guidelines, to encourage their involvement with our clients, and to recognize their value to the refugees.•Work with clients to remove barriers to employment and realize the goal of family self-sufficiency. Provide services that empower and strengthen clients’ motivation to formulate realistic yet ambitious service plans and capacities to become self-sufficient. •Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs. Advocate on behalf of refugees, and refugee-serving agencies. •Maintain open communication with staff on behalf of clients in accordance with individual self-sufficiency plans, while honoring confidentiality.•Maintain efficient communication with volunteers and community resources. Facilitate referrals for basic services available to refugee clients.•Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor. •Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to refugees, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients. •Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. •Undertake other duties as assigned; Work varied hours, including some night and weekend work

RECRUITMENT SEASON – Spring through SummerFrom working with local schools, to finding and screening host families, the first part of coordinating is to find homes for Aspect exchange students. This time of the year includes:Contacting your local high schools to determine space and deadlines for exchange student enrollment. Recruiting volunteer host families for Aspect exchange students. You network with friends, co-workers, community members and local organizations to find loving and safe homes for high school exchange students. Screening host families by checking references and conducting in-home interviews. Working with host families and guiding them while they pick a student who is a good fit with their tastes, hobbies, schedule and expectations.SUPERVISION SEASON – Fall through SpringOnce the students you have placed with host families arrive, you provide supervision and support during their exchange experience. This includes:Advocating for your exchange students. From airport pick-up to drop-off, you work to ensure that your students adjust well, are in safe and comfortable environments, and have the resources they need to have a wonderful experience.Organizing student orientations at the beginning, middle and end of the exchange year, communicating Aspect rules and policies and building community.Checking in with each of your students monthly by phone or in-person and submitting reports on their status and experience.Planning activities throughout your students’ exchange. Holiday parties, movie nights, excursions to local landmarks, and recreational events are all great ways to create memorable exchange experiences and share what’s special about where you live!
