I am a passionate conservationist and environmentalist, currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Planning/Science. I am particularly interested in urban ecology/biodiversity and botany. I am currently employed as a field worker and casual supervisor at Regen Australia, an environmental management company based in the Gold Coast and Bundaberg. Different areas that I have gained skills in within this job include natural area management, ecological restoration, revegetation, land management and conservation. I thoroughly enjoy the fieldwork, learning new skills, engaging with communities, and contributing to short and long-term sustainability undertaken in this work. Growing up in a rural community and being surrounded by nature has meant that I have always valued, appreciated, and had a deep connection to the natural environment. I am particularly interested in promoting sustainable consumer behaviour and I am passionate about the conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of native land and species. Here are some relevant skills I have developed throughout my career. ✓ Communication, people and interpersonal skills when working in the customer service industry. ✓ Technical/computing skills throughout school and university, also in my position as a warehouse manager.✓ Research skills acquired through university studies; including knowledge of relevant and current local, national and global conservation topics; report writing, data collection, critical thinking, planning and scheduling, managing time with other commitments. ✓ Leadership skills developed from organising and leading volunteer projects, assisting with project management for Regen Australia. Within my career, I have discovered that I enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge. I can express knowledge in an informative and interesting manner. I value teamwork; being a team member or leader is what I am best at. Most of all I love to learn new things, meet new people and challenge myself.
