Primarily working on backend services for product features, transitioning PHP monolith to Go microservices and building new services and APIs to support product development across the company.

- Built the backend infrastructure for Current by Sidewire based off of the Sidewire backend,using Python, Tornado, SqlAlchemy and Postgres- Developed feature for users of Sidewire to react and comment on posts- Gathered user analytics and server performance data and created an accompanying webtool to inform product and engineering decisions- Added Redis caching to server calls to reduce call times and number of concurrent calls tosignificantly improve responsiveness of app and site- Designed and implemented Sidewire’s Facebook Messenger integration- Developed recommendation system to suggest other newsmakers to chat with to increaseorganic activity on the platform- Created several internal web tools to make the administration of Sidewire easier and moreautomated
