Atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD) research included exploring novel chemistries, evaluating and optimizing growth and properties of films, and exploring post deposition thermal modifications for application in corrosion protection, membrane technology, and catalysis.• Successfully developed and applied novel corrosion resistant coatings to copper nanowire heat sinks for use in micro-electro-mechanical-systems (MEMS). The coatings increased the effective service life of the heat sinks from 2 hour to 90+ days.• Research presented at the Boulder Laboratories Postdoctoral Poster Symposium was awarded “Special Contribution to Chemistry: 2011”.• Collaborated across departments to develop post film deposition modifications to yield novel film morphologies useful for applications in catalysis and membrane technology. • Initiated inter-departmental and inter-group instrument sharing efforts.
