About Jackson Thornton
I started studying my Bachelors Degree with Honors in Civil Engineering in early 2021 and I am expecting to graduate at the end of 2024/ early 2025. Nearing the end of my first year of study I thought that I would try and get some experience in the industry I am studying. I got an internship at Fletcher construction and learnt a lot of extremely valuable skills and processes as well as giving me a really good idea of what the industry is like. I worked in the drainage team a lot on one of the local road sections of the Hamilton Section project. My individual responsibilities were managing the daily site report for the progress of the project and sending it to my manager and the team of site engineers I was working with. Another responsibility I had was recording the PH levels and water clarity of the lamellas that were operating on the site, this also involved making sure the water was within the right range to be able to be drained into the council drainage system. If they were not within the range I had to stop the flow and clear the lamellas in order to correct it.One of my attributes that I think is very important is my willingness to learn. I want to learn as much as possible in whatever I do and am always open to learning new and better ways of completing tasks and doing jobs. I am keen to try anything and everything in order to gain experience because that is the best way to learn.
