I was elected to be on the budget committee for four years in a row. We manage over $500,000 a year from student funds and hold monthly meetings to create the budget and allocate the student funds. We also oversee budget requests and have created a portfolio that collects the rollover budget and puts it into sustainable investments. This portfolio creates dividends, which will be used to eliminate the student fee within this decade. In addition to budgeting, this committee oversees the payroll and compensation of the student employees in student government.

I was elected as dorm president for my Sophomore (and just got elected for my new dorm this Junior year) year in college. My duties were to manage thousands of dollars that were to run events and activities to create an inclusive and fun environment. It was crucial to budget correctly as the funding was cut to 15% if the original amount in March; I needed to allocate the money and spread it out so that no money was wasted. Activities / events hosted include: 200+ person birthday party, 2+ food social events, and many more.

In this role, I supported the Director of Executive Talent Development that is focused on workforce & succession planning. I learned about PayPal’s executive talent development strategy and the aligned programs and how they support performance, the talent lifecycle, and impact the organization. By using data, I was able to extract key insights about the senior leadership team and identify integral people to the company as well as evaluate the health of business units. I also joined right before a massive revamp of the entire employee review system (with the addition of leadership principles), and thus had to utilize and acquire change management skills.
