With a passion for spaces in urban areas that evoke the wild, I strive to find the balance in designs combining the natural with the manufactured. The discovery and design of meaning and metaphor in our landscapes is deeply important to me. My summer design-build internship at Ed Castro Landscape allowed me to gain practical knowledge of on-site installation and project management, as well as collaborative studio design work. A diverse educational and career background in woodworking, cooking, and foreign languages and culture has given me a unique perspective on shaping landscapes which can respond to the unique circumstances of the site as well as the communities for whom they are designed. My aim in life is to contribute to the world in a positive and meaningful way, however large or small, and this goal, along with a youth spent in my parent's extensive garden and a love of the outdoors, led me to the study of landscape architecture, which I strongly believe has the power to shape and heal an increasingly fragmented world.
