Training post on the Scientist Training Programme (STP) to gain HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in Genomics. Duties:- Regular contribution to the departmental workload on the following techniques that I trained to competence in: karyotyping (constitutional blood karyotyping, prenatal karyotyping on AF and CVB samples); arrayCGH; QF-PCR; SNV interpretation; CF-EU2; MLPA; MCC; ddPCR.- 1 day per week prenatal duty scientist rota during second year.- Completion of project on ddPCR mutation detection for the BCR-ABL1 service which involved ethics approval, costings, assay design, lab work, and troubleshooting.The 1st year included a Bioinformatics placement during which I wrote bash and python scripts to create an NGS variant calling pipeline. I also did placements at Jessop Fertility (Assisted Conception Unit) and Histopathology.
