Head of Global Engineering & Real Estate Project Services function which includes the Project Delivery Process (stage-gate & governance),Cost Estimating, Planning and Scheduling, Project Controls, and Engineering Business Operations. Director/Sr. Director role reporting to VP. Capital portfolio in excess of $500M per year. Staff and team of approximately 50 individuals spread globally. Project locations in US, UK, Sweden, China, Japan, Russia, France. Additional responsibilities include Risk Analysis (Quantitative and Qualitative), Change Management, Portfolio coordination, Portfolio performance analysis and metrics, Contract document development and Contract Administration.Business Operations include responsibility for department budget, resource planning and forecasting, cost recovery through service provider model of billing, department policies, key support system implementation (purchasing, accounting), Compliance, Communications, and transactional order & invoicing execution.

Oversight and leadership for global Project Control function including staff in US, UK, Sweden and China. During this period, the project portfolio grew from less than $400M to in excess of $800M annual spend. To meet this growth, significant increases in staff were completed and also strategic alignment with 3rd party providers. Developed and implemented new Operating Model (Policies, Guidelines, Procedures, Tools) for Estimating and Project Control deployed globally. Conducted training in project control fundamentals and company specifics for all of engineering to improve capabilities.

Responsible for establishing project cost and schedule engineering function to support a newly formed Owner global engineering department. Established guidelines, tools and templates for use in cost estimating, scheduling, project controls, risk management, data capture / benchmarking, resource planning and project financial control.Established tools and process for capital project portfolio management. Project Development Director for the JW Marriott hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Working for Owner's Executive Vice President, responsible from inception through hotel opening for managing all aspects including architectural design, interior design, FF&E procurement & installation, construction, pre-opening planning, and coordination with city. Completed on-time, within budget, and the property was awarded opening of the year. Conducted reviews and audits on behalf of Owner firms to assess the project management and project control systems. Work performed in US and South America. Efforts resulted in changes to improve processes, upgrade personnel and assistance with change implementation to ensure project success.Project Controls Manager for Fortune 100 headquarters campus development completed on-time and under budget. Project scope included 1 Million square feet of office and labs along with extensive site development. Schedule Risk Analyses completed for major petrochemical and commercial projects in US and Europe. Process applied included qualitative and quantitative risk analysis using monte carlo simulation with full statistical analysis of results. Established and managed cost estimate review and assurance process for major pharmaceutical client for 2.5 years. Completed detailed reviews and validation of over fifty cost estimates including benchmarking and the identification of actions required that must be addressed prior to the projects moving forward. Performed financial audits and contract compliance reviews for major construction contracts. Identified incorrect invoicing and assist client with recovery of overpaid amounts.
