Shaped outer mold lines using CATIA to investigate the impact on aircraft aerodynamics. Created Finite Element Method (FEM) models in Patran/Apex and conducted trade studies of different geometry and FEM in the preliminary design stage of aircraft structural components.Modeled NACA test specimen in Patran and NASTRAN to determine best modeling practices for mechanical fasteners using spring, bar, rigid, and Rutman fastener modeling techniques. I authored a 29-page report detailing fastener model methodology, FEM development, and FEA results comparing fastener modeling simulation results to experimental data. Additional analysis captured fastener prying and pre-load phenomenon in aircraft structure using FEM.I shaped complex aircraft panel geometry using surfacing in CATIA, investigated Main Landing Gear fairing and inboard door play via measurement, machine design, and analysis to determine critical engineering changes, and researched alternate materials for a flight deck overhead trim ring comparing superforming aluminum and carbon fiber mechanical properties.

I conduct carbon fiber reinforced IM7 composite and N12 research to better understand interlaminated carbon nanotube carbon fiber composite mechanical properties via axial and bending loads. To do this, I set up samples in load frames and complete bending and compression tests using digital image correlation to visualize and record strain for a given load. Ultimate compressive residual strength and effective compressive modulus was calculated according to ASTM standards.

Designed CAD SOLIDWORKS models such as nose cones, airframes, couplers, and more for the club’s 103-inch high-powered rocket that launched successfully to 10,691 feet in the 2022 Spaceport America Cup in Truth or Consequences, NM. Manufactured 10+ rocket airframes and motor tubes in Mechanical Engineering Student Shop by wrapping carbon fiber and fiberglass then refined to dimension using band saws and metal lathes. I machined aluminum plates using vertical milling machines for avionic retention and drogue parachute deployment. Simulated rocket performance with a 10,000-foot apogee in Open Rocket flight simulation software, MATLAB, and Python to determine the validity of club rocket design with flight dynamics sub-team.

I researched Lunar regolith, Lunar regolith simulants, and their interactions with drilling tools via In-Situ Resource Utilization with Clemson University, the Clemson University Honors College, and the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering as a part of an early start research program entitled "EUREKA! 2.0". I worked closely with a professor and graduate students to explore and analyze different chemistries, mineralogies, and particle-size distribution (PSD) of a variety of Lunar regolith and Lunar regolith simulants. Digitized PSD curves and compiled an Excel database.
