Embarked on a reimagining of the Blue State product suite, including the Blue State Tools digital engagement platform, the QuickDonate fundraising network, and the CallOut digital advocacy platform. * Directed research, planning, and roadmapping for a ground-up rewrite of several major Blue State Tools features, resulting in the launch of a new state-of-the-art journey management product and the CallOut advocacy tool. Reduced delivery time for new features from months to weeks.* Drove R&D efforts on new data products and tools leveraging Blue State’s proprietary data set. These included a data warehouse, smart segmentation tools, and partnerships with reporting and data science platforms.* Established the annual BSD Hackathon, a two-day event driving creativity and innovation across the organization and delivering over 80 new products and features in its first four years.

Embedded liaison between BSD and the 2012 Obama for America (OFA) presidential campaign. Stationed at OFA headquarters as the lead for BSD's engineering, operations, and support work, building and orchestrating product improvements to support the campaign's fundraising, messaging, and field work.* Launched the QuickDonate payment platform, which streamlined donations, led to tens of millions of dollars in incremental revenue for the campaign, and added SMS as an additional fundraising channel.* Designed and built a real-time data pipeline between the BSD Tools and OFA's data hub, keeping millions of records per day in sync between systems.* Managed a team of 3 engineers dedicated to BSD's work with the campaign.

Tech lead, architect, and team manager for the BSD Tools engineering team. Managed a team of 5 engineers focused on admin user experience, bulk email publishing, and event management features. Led transition from legacy monolithic architecture to service-oriented architecture, resulting in a 50% increase in email throughput for BSD's largest clients.

Lead software architect for a team of more than 20 engineers working across all of Smarter Travel’s publishing and search products. Provided design oversight for all major development efforts. * Onboarded newly acquired TripAdvisor Media Group brands to proprietary email distribution and content management platforms.* Led rapid development of a Java-based, drop-in replacement for existing PHP ad delivery service on an aggressive 4-week timeline; met aggressive performance targets while reducing hardware requirements by more than two-thirds.

One of two team managers overseeing Smarter Travel’s engineering work, including both in-house and outsourced projects. Managed a team of 4 architects/engineers responsible for building and augmenting core services, including application frameworks, content management systems, reporting tools, and email distribution systems.* Oversaw development of a new advertising network delivering targeted travel deals to TAMG publishers, supporting more than 40 brands and hundreds of millions of monthly impressions.* Designed and led development of a scalable user account management system to support long-term subscription growth and community features across all Smarter Travel products.

Designed, developed, and oversaw the nine-year evolution of a proprietary email distribution system for Smarter Travel newsletters, which would grow beyond 120 million monthly impressions across eight TripAdvisor Media Group brands by January 2010.Designed and built custom content management tools, tailored to the needs of Smarter Travel’s editorial and search products and enabling non-technical staff to manage all aspects of the publishing and data management process.

Served as primary developer on myriad programming and design projects for Smarter Travel’s websites during startup stage. Worked independently and in small teams to design and build new site features, including all visual and functional development, database design, and content management interfaces.
