This included delving into the photographs the museum held in its collection and connecting them with an educational theme. I researched the photos and their photographer and wrote an introduction to the collection. I also included possible educational activities that teachers could use the photos with. These activities met Indiana State Social Studies and English standards. These activities met Indiana State Social Studies and English standards. I also directed Teachers towards further readings they could do on the subject.I began researching and writing for interpretive signage in the museum's basement. The basement is where visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at how a museum functions.I put together several artifacts that a teacher would share with their students. These artifacts informed the children of what the material culture of Pioneer Indiana was like, and preempted a visit to a one-room school house. I also grouped the artifacts based on educational themes and included videos on how the objects would have been used.I worked alongside permanent museum staff at Indiana University's First Thursday festival. I followed the principles of the NPS thematic interpretation model by researching my topic, and creative use of delivery techniques.I provided informal interpretation and orientation for park guests while I was roving, or working a desk at the Memorial's Visitor Center and Information Center. Although I often had another intern or ranger with me at the desk, I did these duties alone as well.I promoted park safety by advising guests on the best way to experience the Presendital Trail given its many steps. I promoted stewardship of park resources by directing excited guests toward our museum, bookstores, and interpretive literature.I opened the Information Center frequently, which included unlocking doors, turning on lights, removing barriers, updating weather information, posting available park activities, and restocking paper resources.As part of my additional duties, I responded to visitor inquiries that came to the park in the form of phone calls and messages, emails, and written letters. I would respond to these inquiries with phone calls, emails, and letters depending on what the visitor wanted. This involved responding to radio requests from other departments and managing the Facility Support workers on my shift to effectively fulfill our duties.I also worked on several special events throughout the year, including the Jill Behrman 5k and Indiana University's Dance Marathon.
