I have 15+ years of mechanical design experience typically working in the aerospace field. I began my career at NASA-JPL working on the next generation Mars Rover, MSL, that is currently on the surface of Mars. There I learned the standards and guidelines that are in place in order to model parts, generate their engineering drawings, and having the parts fabricated. I also got to work on several orbiters that are around Earth, the Moon, and in transit to Jupiter. I then went to work at the California Institute of Technology designing mechanical assemblies for state of the art optics that mount directly onto telescopes at both Palomar Observatory in San Diego and Keck in Hawai'i.I currently work as kind of the go-to person for all things CAD (NX) related at spaceX in the launch mechanical group. There I get to do what I really enjoy which is working within NX creating models and drawings, as well as helping other engineers with their NX questions.I also do consultant design work as a freelancer with SolidWorks. I have been doing this for about 14 years and really enjoy it. I have aided over 80 individuals and companies making their ideas come to life first in CAD and then with prototypes. My educational background is that I began at UC San Diego obtaining a BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering. I also went on to receive an MBA in project management and just completed a Masters of Engineering (M.Eng) at USC in Mechanical Design Engineering. My ideal job is utilizing CAD programs like SolidWorks or Unigraphics with my engineering background to create parts and assemblies. My field of choice would be to work on robotics that either travel to the deep sea or outer space. I also like the process of dealing with machine shops to get the parts fabricated. My favorite part of each job is seeing the parts I created on a computer be turned into functional and tangible products.
