Teleperformance manages customer care, technical support and debt collection operations for companies worldwide. Business as usual consists of monitoring (with Dell Spotlight) some 1600 databases on approximately 200 servers. This highlights problems to be fixed such as backup failures, connections, speed, disk capacity etc. There are a few servers which cannot be accessed by Spotlight, typically because they are in separate domains or behind firewalls. These I check manually - running T-SQL code to check disk space, spot anomalies in error logs, and look for failures in SQL Agent jobsIn addition I am part of a team on a major project migrating from Oracle to SQL Server - I work with an Oracle DBA, a Java developer and a senior programmer to convert some twenty databases and their associated applications from the old Oracle system to SQL Server 2012. This has meant extensive use of the SQL Server Migration Assistant and SSIS (Integration Services). I am currently taking over responsibility for Informatica, and shortly to take on a major upgrade of databases from SQL Server 2000 and 2005 to 2012.
