Managed the growth and capacity for Dialup, DSL, and Dedicated customers that had a growth rate of 160%. Engineered and implemented the RSVP/LDP network design to enable the network to support Layer2 and Layer3 MPLS VPNs for new and existing service offerings. Since the MPLS enabling of the network, Alltel has been able to secure multiple statewide contracts providing future revenue in excess of $40 million dollars per year. Designed and deployed the network architecture to facilitate future 3G market migrations while minimizing the need for future capital expenditures in support of 3G high-speed data.

Lead a team of seven network engineers while ensuring telecommunication systems uptime to meet the requirements of several customers, both internal and external. Responsibilities include the development, documentation and engineering of an emerging Cisco network. Network Equipment deployed includes Cisco Catalyst 8540’s, 6509’s and Cisco 7507’s. Additional roles include the development of project plans and schedules, allocation of resources and provide status updates to management. Analyze, diagnose and resolve complex network problems that are not resolved by Network Control Center and Network Technical Support subordinates.

Maintain BGP4 configurations in a multi-peer environment for four Internet connections. Provide engineering and design support for large data centers occupying five acres of raised floor space, 750 Terabytes of storage, over 200 wide area connections and supporting 6000 users. Support large multi-vendor environment containing 100 Cisco routers, 75 Catalyst Switches, 15 Extreme Networks Layer3 Switches, and over 200 WAN routers.

Built mobile data and telephone networks over satellite communications equipment using Cisco routers to allow mobile users to access the Department of Defense’s Secure Network. Deployed wireless network equipment, radio and infrared, in remote tactical locations for access to network resources across the globe. This use of wireless technology dramatically reduced the cargo space needed to transport copper wire to the field. Maintained the Air Force Network Test Center, which incorporated Cisco 7500 series routers and Cisco Catalyst 5500 switches into a Wide Area Network with an OC-12 ATM Backbone to emulate multi-campus environments for testing initiatives.
