Contributed to Box’s DataPlatform project enabling batch compute in the cloud from on premise data sources. For this project, John worked on the job scheduling service and the job framework built on Spark, Iceberg, S3, and Dynamo. This enabled Data Scientists to make decisions from Box’s immense amounts of data.Implemented a Kubernetes service using Akka Streams to stream data from data lakes in AWS to Box’s on premise DataCenters. This enabled Box’s Shield program to deliver daily events of anomalous activity to its customers.Enabled Box’s Notifica on Service to provide realtime notifications through long polls to a per-user pubsub system. This allowed user specific notifications to appear without page refreshes.
