I teach Phonics and Comprehension classes to children with dyslexia. Children at the Highlands School learn to read at their own individual levels using programs tailored to their unique styles. This is where I became inspired to help every child, especially those that struggle, learn to read by creating the game FUNNY MIX. I am honored to be a part of this school that continues to help so many children learn to read!

Working virtually, I administered the Reach Every Reader Screening Assessment to hundreds of diverse students across the United States, from grades Kindergarten-3rd. I collaborated closely with Project Managers to analyze, edit, and revise test questions to promote cultural equity and inclusion. I also administered four standardized, nationally normed reading and language tests, including the KTEA-3, WPPSI-IV, EVT-3, and CELF-5. I had so much fun and learned so much testing each child, working with this incredible and knowledgeable team, and am so proud to have been a part of Reach Every Reader!

I contacted and coordinated over 40 businesses and schools to help support Decoding Dyslexia Maryland’s Annual Dyslexia Advocacy Day in Annapolis, Maryland. As Community Partners, they attended, shared their resources to help children with dyslexia, and advocated.I Advocated at the local, state, and federal level for policy and curriculum changes to improve reading in the general education and special education classrooms in public schools.

I evaluated children's current academic levels using informal and formal testing. Together with an I.E.P. team, I developed Individualized Education Programs and implemented them. I taught children, in small groups, reading and math. I modified instructional materials to meet each child's needs in grades K-5. Grange Elementary School is where I first taught children with dyslexia and other struggling readers to read. I found this to be one of the most rewarding jobs I could ever do! Thank you for the opportunity Grange Elementary School!

I taught 2 year old children finger plays, nursery rhymes, the alphabet song, counting with 1 to 1 correspondence and fine and gross motor skills. We read many books together and played educational games. This is where I realized how children learn through play and socializing! Thank you Mercy Hospital Child Development Center for this amazing and enjoyable experience!
