Advanced policies and systems to reduce rates of childhood obesity with coalition partners, such as: passage of the Denver Fresh Produce and Cottage Foods Sales HomeOccupation Ordinance that allows residents to sell home-grown produce and goods directly to consumer; obtaining land for an urban farm in a food desert; and lowering the riding age of the city bike sharing program to 15 years.

Reviewed grant proposals as a liaison for CDC Action Communities for Health, Innovation, and Environmental Change (ACHIEVE) to propose recommendations under CDC guidelines. Provided guidance for grantees in assessing community strengths and needs and linking needs to strategies, resources to implement strategies, and processes for measuring progress. Conducted site visits with a diverse portfolio of grantees to support implementation of community action plans such as addressing food security through community gardens and SNAP at farmers markets. Tracked progress of grantees in reaching key milestones by ensuring communities met requirements of the ACHIEVE model, which called for commitment, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Encouraged collaboration across worksites, health care organizations, schools, government, faith-based and community institutions to align priorities focused on eliminating health disparities in underserved areas.
