The Momental Foundation is a nonprofit grantmaker and impact-focused hardware accelerator located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to build bridges between the academic, entrepreneurial, and civil communities to create a more human-centered and sustainable future through technology. The Foundation is a spinoff company from Mistletoe, Inc., which was founded by serial entrepreneur and venture funder, Taizo Son in 2013. Taizo Son’s Mistletoe Collective Impact Community, also known as Mistletoe, Inc. is an impact focused venture organization comprised of founders, investors, entrepreneurs, researchers, and visionaries who share the lofty ambition of addressing the problems humanity faces in the near and long-term future. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, I was a member of the Management faculty group as well as conducting research at the Center for Digital Strategies.During my tenure at Tuck, I conducted a study of 3,450 hardware startups to determine how nascent firms learn from prior success and failure, whether experienced directly or indirectly. The Center for Digital Strategies at the Tuck School of Business focuses on enabling business strategy with a particular focus on digital strategies and information technology. My aim was to support the center's mission through high-level research, as well as engagement in the centers' work with CIOs and executives to create value and thought leadership around digital technology and digital strategies.

The Experiential Learning Center (ELC) employs professional trainers/facilitators who have obtained PhDs or are current PhD candidates. Facilitators lead two hour case-based sessions. In my time at the ELC I frequently had the opportunity to work with undergraduate business majors, MBA students, and Graduate Students in Accounting. On occasion I would work with executives.The ELC training facility is used extensively to support Marshall MBA and undergraduate programs by adding experiential learning opportunities to supplement courses. The ELC bridges the gap between theory and practice by exposing students to business-like scenarios that assist them in the practice and development of critical management and negotiation skills. As such, the ELC serves as a management training” laboratory”.

While on a COMPASS (Consortium on Media Policy Studies) Fellowship at the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), I developed a taxonomy and case library on the issue of "Internet intermediary liability".

Project Argus was a leader in global open-source intelligence, funded by federal govt agencies (DOD, DTRA, OSC) to produce state of the art disease and disaster monitoring and intelligence services. I was Lead on the Competitor Competencies Comparison Project, The RSS Language Collection Project, and the Guangdong Disease Transmigration & Telecommunications Project. As part of a new operating initiative, I designed an open-source news collection system that tripled beta-tester productivity and increased foreign language data collection by 30%. Across my projects, I coordinated and conducted research related to migration and telecommunications, foreign trade, industry evaluations, foreign direct investment, ethnographic data, and health sector/intelligence applications for ICTs (Information Communications Technologies). Prior to senior promotion, I stepped in for the departing Indonesia Analyst and provided comprehensive analysis (Bahasa Indonesia and English sources) of indications and warnings, including agricultural, animal, and human considerations, of disease and disaster outbreaks in the Indonesian archipelago.

In this position, I directly handled the multimillion grants portfolio of Dr. Albert J. Fornace, including proposal preparation, management, and reporting for awards from DoD, NIAD, NIH, NASA and NIEHS. Dr. Fornace is Molecular Cancer Research Chair at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and founding Director of the Center for Metabolomic Studies. He is ranked in the top 1% of most-cited life science researchers.My responsibilities included abstract and protocol review, as well as editing journal submissions prior to publication, grant budget preparation, handling budget and progress-reporting requirements, orchestrating and coordinating electronic submission of proposals with other grant administrators. I managed and tracked the lab's chemical, equipment, and supply procurement.I also assisted in the development of the PI's donor relations initiatives.

I headed market research teams of up to 20 members for client accounts and large-scale events. I developed integrated marketing plans, as well as implementing online brand stewardship and market entry strategies for all client accounts. I wrote proposal bids for business development, including three (3) new client contracts in one year. I additionally developed the company's public-private partnerships, soliciting major corporate sponsorships for Fashion Fights Poverty - a prominent annual benefit. The Style & Image Network (SIN) is a boutique brand strategy firm specializing in event management, public relations, web design, advertising, and integrated market planning and research services.

I served as a graduate fellow at CNDLS for two years while pursuing an MA at Georgetown's Communications, Culture & Technology (CCT) Program. CNDLS began in 2000 with a mission to bridge a historic gulf between pedagogy and technological advances and today it integrates a teaching and learning center with the latest educational technology, assisting post-secondary educators to critically review teaching practices and incorporate technology into course designs.
