Working with my advisor, Dr. Julie Crockett, I researched the impact of superheated, heated superhydrophobic surfaces on water jet impingement heat transfer.

I worked with Dr. Brian Iverson and PhD candidate Kim Stevens measuring heat transfer via condensation on superhydrophobic surfaces. I specifically was involved with the fabrication of carbon nanotubes to create the superhydrophobic surfaces, as well as the manufacturing of the test vacuum chamber and running the experiments. I received an ORCA grant for this work, which helped with the publication "Superhydrophobic, carbon-infiltrated carbon nanotubes on Si and 316L stainless steel with tunable geometry" (link included below).

Under the direction of Dr. Scott Thomson, this project involved optimizing an aerodynamic wing design based of Humpback Whale tubercles. The airfoil was mechatronic and the number and dimensions of each tubercle were controlled and optimized for lift using MATLAB, LabVIEW, and Arduino code.

I began as a Peer Mentor developing personal and interpersonal skills such as growth mindset and grit. I helped 75+ students each semester with the physical, mental, and emotional rigors of the transition into their first year at college through monthly meetings and weekly correspondence. I then was promoted to a Coordinator, where I trained a group of 15+ mentors in weekly group meetings and bi-weekly one-on-one training moments.

Product development involving metal additive manufacturing qualification:• Designed and tested a stainless steel 316L AM housing and qualification artifacts• Modeled material mechanical, acoustic, and electrical responses using ANSYSWorkbench FEA and utilized mass-minimization topology optimization to improve design• Developed unused test procedures to qualify AM components, including destructive andnon-destructive methods such as part vibration and scanning to obtain material properties

I implemented a new QA/QC process at the company to ensure the correct equipment was delivered from sub-contractors via a rigorous submittal review process. I worked with projects such as the additions to Rawlins High School in WY, UNC Campus Commons in Greeley, CO, and the medical center at CSU in Ft. Collins, CO.
