As the battalion communications staff officer (S6) I lead the communications section of the battalion, contribute signal expertise to the battalion staff, plan training for the section, and develop plans and manages the automations systems and COMSEC within the formation. As the S6 I plan and update the battalion SOI IAW guidance from Brigade S6, as well as distributes it to the battalion. I am in charge of ensuring commanders adhere to higher guidance regarding COMSEC transport and filling. I request satellite time and ensure we can communicate at all levels in the battalion. As the Battalion safety Officer I provide safety oversight to unit operations involving the transport or storing of arms, ammunition, explosives, petroleum products, RAMs, and other HAZMAT. I am also responsible to advise the Commander or Staff Director to ensure the implementation of the Army safety policy in all activities within the unit. This policy is to reduce and keep to a minimum accidental manpower and monetary losses, thus providing more efficient use of resources and advancing effectiveness of the Army. As the Battalion EOR I assist commanders, advocate for soldiers, and report violations to judicial officials. I also train soldiers on cultural, racial, and sexual sensitivity.
