Medical device design and commercialisation in areas around influencing and tracking the autonomic nervous system, and assistive breathing technologies. Working within the multidisciplinary team at the BioDesign lab I have successfully taken device development projects through research, proof of concept and prototype phases through to handover for production design. The use of rapid prototyping via additive manufacturing has allowed me to quickly produce and test prototype devices, enabling quick iterative improvements to designs and pushing projects towards productionisation and commercialisation.

Mechanical design role as part of the Vision Systems R&D team involving:- Concept and detailed design, followed by parts order and build of several jigs, fixtures, testrigs and prototype parts.- Extensive use of SolidWorks to produce models and engineering drawings formanufacture, particularly for sheet metal bending and manual machining.- Experience liaising with local and overseas sheet metal bending, laser cutting andmachining suppliers for production of parts designed.- Manufacture of parts using manual milling and other standard workshop tools, along withthe assembly of prototypes designed.- Providing design feedback and suggested design improvements in design reviews andduring prototype builds.- Assisting with large prototype builds and training of production staff, writing workinstructions for the assembly of my own designs.
