Jacob serves as a Geoscientist for Stantec. His work focuses on environmental due diligence, including Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). He is responsible for gathering and evaluating historical and environmental records to determine the potential for contamination on the properties of interest. Jacob is also responsible for coordinating and completing subsurface investigation activities to assess the on-site conditions through soil, groundwater and soil-gas sampling.

Mr. Jacob Fielder served as a Geologist with Triterra. He routinely utilized his broad understanding of environmental issues to help clients with property improvements and acquisitions. Mr. Fielder helped to provide Triterra’s due diligence services, to aid in property transactions, allowing our clients to reduce or eliminate their liability and maintain high property values.Mr. Fielder’s responsibilities included preparing reports and conducting investigations at properties with existing or potential contamination present, completing subsurface investigations including borehole logging, and monitoring well installation. Investigation activities involved site classification and soil, groundwater, and soil-gas sampling.Notable Project experience included: ASTM Phase I and Phase II ESAs including Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Review Requirements and Transaction Screens BEAs Due Care Evaluations Monitoring Well Construction Oversight and Development LUST Investigation – Borehole Advancement, Monitoring Well installation Soil & Groundwater Sampling, and Data Evaluation

As an Intern at Triterra Jacob was introduced to a variety of the services Provided by Triterra. He was able to gain experience conducting Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) as well as taking part in Leaking underground storage tank (LUST) monitoring and remediation. Jacob gained experience collecting soil, groundwater and soil-gas samples and analyzing the data in comparison to part 201 criteria. Jacob was also able to assist in asbestos inspections and report writing.

As a student assistant at the MDEQ state laboratory Jacob's responsibilities involved handling environmental soil and water samples for volatile and semi volatile organic analyses. Jacob quickly mastered extraction procedures for the above sample types and was able to perform them without supervision. Jacob also gained experience interpreting results from data reports and conducting data QA/QC.

Jacob interned 12 hours a week in the fall of 2015. He worked on a variety of projects during his internship including: an analysis of the inspection frequency of chrome plating facilities, membership in a Vertical Engineered Barriers work-group, compilation of information regarding Michigan’s watersheds, and a project that involved compiling information on Michigan’s state parks. Jacob learned how to appropriately schedule meetings and compose emails in an office setting as well as how to participate in, and run an effective meeting.
